What is Ramadhan?
Hope, love, passion, and spirits are what keep us move every day towards the unknown future. Every society has it is own way to endure and stay alive in this world where spiritual aspects play a role on it. The soul, as a matter of fact, needs these aspects as it is the energy of our own daily life. Christians, for example, go to church every Sunday to gather and bear the spirit of the soul; and so this happen to every single religion that practices certain acts for the sake of Worshiping God. Muslims pray five times a day where they can have connections with Allah(God) and bear that spirit too. Moreover, they have a very holy month called Ramadhan where they also endure this spirit.
In Ramadhan, Muslims fast from sunrise till sunset. The concept of fasting is not only related to food but also they have to stop doing any bad things, like Backbiting, lying, or any other sin. Therefore, it rehabilitates the essence of morality. Ramadhan teaches Muslims a very important lesson which is the importance of charity. When Muslims fast from eating, they will feel how those people who do not have anything to eat feel, so it will encourage them to help each. This act may lead to the diminish the poverty in society because this will create passion to give a hand and help poor people. It also teaches Muslims the concept of discipline as they should be very focused and try their best to have purified deeds.
These are some of the actions that Muslim do in Ramadhan:
- Muslims wake up before the sunrise to eat something before they start fasting. This food called “Suhoor”.
- They go to work and act like they are in a normal day yet they shall remind each of the good things and stay away from sins. They also abstain from sensual pleasures.
- During the sunset, they gather and eat again. In most of the communities, Muslims gather in the Masjid(mosque) and have the Fotoor(the food that is eaten in that specific time) together. Poor and rich, olds and young sit together and have their Fotoor.
- They should exert more time in praying, worshiping, contemplating, helping others, reciting the Holy Quran and giving charity.
Ramadhan is not an any month; it is the month of mercy and tolerance. It is the month of forgiveness. It purifies our souls and reminds us with the meaning of humanity, love and hope. A hope that the world can be a better place where all people have purified deeds. Fasting Ramadhan heals our hearts, purify our deeds, cures our bodies, and refreshes our minds. This is Ramadhan.
